HCPD Daily Crime Bulletin – Monday January 29, 2018

Robbery Arrest Update:

Police have made an arrest in a year-old armed robbery in Elkridge, John Ciri Gray, 20, of Sawmill Branch road in Gwynn Oak, has been charged in a case from Jan. 29, 2017, with armed robbery, robbery, assault, theft, and weapon violations. Police believe that Gray entered Maria’s Baja Cafe in the 7800 block of Washington Boulevard around 8:24 p.m., displayed a gun, and demanded cash. The employees complied and Gray fled. No one was injured.

Robbery:

Columbia, 21046: CVS Pharmacy, 8600 block of Guilford Road, Jan. 29 at 10:27 a.m. An employee reported that two male suspects with their faces partially covered entered the store, threatened the employee, and stole prescription medication before fleeing. No one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.

SUSPECTS: two black males, one 5’10” wearing a dark sleeved shirt and green vest, the other 5’7″ wearing dark clothing and a jacket

Carjacking:

Laurel, 20707: 10100 block of Washington Boulevard, Jan 27 at 2:35 a.m. An adult male victim reported that a male suspect entered the passenger seat of his vehicle, implied a weapon, and demanded cash. The victim fled and the suspect drove off in the vehicle. Police located the vehicle and the suspect and arrested him. No one was injured.

ARRESTED: Preston Lee Harrison, 28, of Laurel Avenue in Laurel, charged with armed carjacking, armed robbery, kidnapping, motor vehicle theft, rogue and vagabond, and theft

Commercial burglary:

Jessup, 2017: Ortega Tire, 8800 block of Washington Boulevard, Jan. 28 at 1:23 p.m.

Unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the business by breaking a window and stole tires.

Residential burglary:

Columbia, 21045 8400 block of Greystone Lane, Jan. 27, 7:00 – 8:55 p.m.

Unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the residence through unknown means. Nothing was reported stolen and no forced entry was observed

Theft from vehicle / vehicle break-in:

Ellicott City, 21043: 3200 block of Swift Stream Place, Jan. 26-27 overnight, two vehicles: unknown if anything was stolen

5600 block of Vantage Point Road, Jan. 26-27 overnight, seven vehicles: cash, laptops, electronics

11700 Morningmist Lane, Jan. 28, 6:02 p.m., laptop, cell phone

Vehicle theft:

Columbia, 21045: 7300 block of Broken Staff, Jan. 27, 4:20 p.m.

Overdose:

Since the Friday, Jan 29 daily crime bulletin, police responded to a non-fatal overdose. Narcan was administered and the person was transported to the hospital for treatment.

2018 year-to-date Overdoes:

Fatal: 2*

Non-fatal: 11

In 2017, there were a total of 57* overdose deaths and 171 non-fatal overdoses

Narcan has been administered in 10 of 13 overdoses in 2018.

*In fatal case, some deaths are pending autopsy results for opioids and / or other substances. Number may fluctuate.
