Howard County police are identifying the victim in a non-fatal shooting in North Laurel June 25. Alexander Sanders, 23, of Bowie, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and is currently in stable condition.
Police were called to the 9800 block of Whiskey Run at approximately 9:07 p.m. for a report that a subject had been shot. Responding officers located Sanders, who was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
Investigators found a large quantity of drugs and cash at the scene. They do not believe this was a random incident.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have information to contact police at 410-313-STOP or HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov. There is no suspect information available at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
In an unrelated case police have arrested a suspect in a May 26 non-fatal shooting in Laurel.
Desean Antonio Jones, 29, of Barrel House Road in Laurel, is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, assault and related charges.
An adult male victim reported he was in a hotel room at the Days Inn in the 9800 block of Washington Boulevard when the suspect entered and pointed a handgun at him.
The two men got into a physical altercation and the suspect shot the victim in the leg before fleeing.
The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released. Through investigation, police identified Jones as the suspect and arrested him.
