BALTIMORE, MD — September 27, 2018 — As the retail industry continues to change, two partners come together to entice shoppers this Holiday Season with a unique experience. Susannah Siger, owner of award-winning Ma Petite Shoe in Hampden (Baltimore), is partnering with The Mall in Columbia to bring Socks Appeal, a “socks-lifestyle” store to the retail mix. The store will feature novelty and luxury socks for all ages, as well as handbags and accessories, jackets and sweaters to complement the socks. The pop-up will be open from October 1 to December 31, 2018.
“Growing up in Columbia I loved going to the Mall with my family. It was, and still is, the community center of Columbia. Meeting friends, having an after-school job, the Mall provided teenagers with a safe social hub,” said Siger, Ma Petite Shoe owner, and graduate of Wilde Lake High School. “In some regards, I’m the prodigal entrepreneur, having helped to put the Hampden neighborhood on the retail map. I have my sights on bringing my business acumen and creativity back to Columbia this Holiday Season” Siger added.
Barbara Nicklas, general manager of The Mall in Columbia responded, “The Mall in Columbia’s partnership with Hampden’s Ma Petite Shoe owner brings a taste of Baltimore to Downtown Columbia. Socks Appeal is the first of many distinctive shopping opportunities and holiday events that we’ll have this year at the center.”
With the motto of “No Boring Socks”, Socks Appeal’s sock prices range from $10 - $40, featuring high-cotton content socks, compression, cashmere-blend, and hundreds of novelty designs including crowd favorites that are space, rocket, and science themed. Many of the store’s socks are made in the U.S., including the local-to-Baltimore brand, Lily Trotters. Baltimore’s Ma Petite Shoe and The Sock Shop next door will remain open in Hampden, carrying a similar mix as the Columbia location.
