Recess monitor positions are available for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
Hammond is located in Laurel, Howard County.

A Recess Monitor assists and monitors students during the recess periods each day.
Recess Monitors work three hours each day, Monday – Friday, 10:45 – 1:45.
Recess Monitors earn an hourly rate of pay of $10.50/hr.
Ideal candidates for this position will demonstrate skills in each of the following areas:
•Building respectful relationships with all children
•Supporting students to organize and play recess games, kindly and safely
•Mediating peer conflict
•Supporting students as they develop skills to meet behavioral expectations
•Commanding groups students, especially when lining up and transitioning between activities (entering the building, walking in the hallway, entering the kitchen area, cleaning-up, and exiting the cafeteria)
•Responsibility for regular, daily attendance and punctuality
Recess Monitors are expected to maintain a professional attitude toward their work and support the mission and goals of the school system.
Recess Monitors are temporary employees and receive no benefits.
