North Laurel Complete Streets Meeting Set for September 10th

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Office of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, September 10th at 6:00 p.m. at the pavilion at High Ridge Park, located at 10100 Superior Avenue in Laurel, to discuss proposed Complete Streets pedestrian and bicycle improvement plans for Old Scaggsville Road, Pilgrim Avenue and Superior Avenue. Proposed improvements include the installation of sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lands and traffic calming measures along these roadways.

“Complete Streets infrastructure creates neighborhood connections and provide our residents safe and healthy transportation options,” said Ball. “To help us expand multimodal transportation in Howard County, including in our North Laurel community, my Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Budget included $14.7 million in County funding for sidewalks, bike lanes, pathways and other Complete Streets infrastructure that makes projects like this possible.”

While there will be no formal presentation, the concept plans will be available for public viewing and staff members will be on hand to explain the proposed work, answer any questions and gather public comments.

Those unable to attend the meeting who would like to view the plans and/or have questions, should contact Mr. Chris Eatough with Transportation at 410-313-0567 or email ceatough@howardcountymd.gov. Immediately following the public meeting, the meeting materials will be available on the project website at www.howardcountymd.gov/transportation/old-scaggsville-rd-study.

An interpreter for people who are deaf or hard of hearing will be available if requested seven working days prior to the meeting. Please call Transportation at 410-313-4312 (voice) or use Relay at 7-1-1, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

In the case of inclement weather, the meeting may be postponed to September 17th; residents can call 410-313-4312 to check the status of the meeting.
