BALTIMORE – The Howard County Police Department has partnered with the U.S. Marshals Service in an effort to locate and apprehend a Maryland teen wanted for his alleged role in a fatal shooting that took place at The Mall in Columbia on July 27. William Thomas Marshall III, 17, of Columbia, has been charged in the District Court of Maryland for Howard County with first-degree murder. Law enforcement is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the fugitive.
Police alleged Marshall (aka “Junior”) specifically targeted the victim who was pronounced dead on scene.
Maryland state law typically does not allow a juvenile suspect’s identification to be released, even when charged as an adult, however, an exception exists “for the sole purposes of facilitating apprehension of a child and ensuring public safety” when a criminal arrest warrant is issued. Law enforcement is identifying Marshall publicly because his whereabouts remain unknown, and he is considered a potential threat to the public due to the nature of his alleged crime.
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to Marshall’s arrest. This is in addition to the Howard County Police Department’s previously announced reward of up to $10,000.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-877-WANTED2 or submit tips via the USMS Tips App.
