The Ridgely’s Run Community Center board held its annual meeting on October 10, 2024 to discuss past progress and upcoming events and objectives.

Board members in attendance were Bill Exum, Bess Bordenave, Becky McKirahan, Gloria Harver, Ciara Davidson, Ed Barnhouser and Caleb Gould.

Community member, Michael Lerner from Guilford Park High School was unable to attend, but sent his remarks to be read publicly.

Bill Exum, the president of RRCC made remarks about the financial success over the past 30 years, where RRCC has brought in revenue by renting space to community organizations and through royalties from Savage Stone. Some of that revenue enabled RRCC to help local boosters clubs, PTAs ( Parent and Teacher Associations), while also providing scholarship money for community students.

Vice President, Bessie Bordenave gave a recap of 2024 events. She also reminded the Board of the food pantry that operates every 2nd Tuesday and Tuesday evening line dancing.

The organization is planning more events for 2025. No details are available at this time.

Becky McKirahan presented the Treasurer’s Report for 2024 with an emphasis on the funds spent on necessary building renovations. McKirahan said that a management company will take over some of the duties of the Exum and Bordenave in 2025. The two are retiring and stepping down from RRCC responsibilities.

Randy Heckler from Savage Stone gave a report and introduced the new community liaison, Eben Smith.

In the questions and answer session, orchestrated by McKirahan emphasis was placed on volunteerism and signing up for emails to get notifications and alerts.

Publisher’s note: One correction made to the article to update and spell correctly, Eben Smith, who is the new community liaison with Savage Stone.
