HCPD Arrest Baltimore Man in Non-Fatal Shooting Incident

Howard County police are investigating a non-fatal shooting inside an Ellicott City restaurant on Aug. 3 in which an adult male victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe that the shooting was domestic-related; the suspect, 60-year-old Barry Batson of Baltimore, was taken into custody at the scene and is charged with attempted second-degree murder.

At approximately 8:54 p.m., police responded to the Mint Room in the 9400 block of Baltimore National Pike and located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center to be treated for his injuries. Police believe an altercation between Batson and the victim led to the shooting. No one else was injured.

The motive remains under investigation.
