May 5 1:30 a.m. and 5:51 p.m.: Employees reported that on two occasions an adult male suspect with his face partially covered entered the store and implied a weapon. The suspect then fled without stealing anything. No one was injured.

An employee reported that four suspects with their faces partially covered entered the business, displayed guns and stole cash and merchandise before fleeing. No one was injured. Police later located the suspects in a stolen vehicle and arrested three of them.

Attempted Carjacking and Robbery – ARRESTS
Columbia, 21044: 10800 block of Green Mountain Circle, April 7 8:00 a.m.
A male victim reported that a male suspect approached him while he was in his vehicle and displayed a handgun. The victim fled in his vehicle. No one was injured. A second male victim reported he was outside his vehicle when he was approached by several suspects, one of whom threatened him with a handgun, who demanded his phone and keys. The suspects attempted to flee in the victim’s vehicle but ultimately left without it. No one was injured.

Columbia, 21044: 10400 block of Waterfowl Terrace, April 7 8:20 a.m.
Two victims reported five unknown suspects approached them, displayed a weapon, assaulted one of the victims and fled with their electronics and bags.

ARRESTS: Police have arrested five teens as a result of the above incidents. Three juvenile males and two juvenile females, ages 14 and 15, of Baltimore City, are being charged with armed robbery, carjacking and related charges.

An adult female victim reported that she was approached by a male suspect who displayed a handgun and stole her cell phone before fleeing. No one was injured.

Two juvenile victims reported that they were approached by a group of possibly juvenile suspects who displayed handguns, assaulted one victim and stole that victim’s jacket before fleeing. No one was injured.

Columbia, 21046: 8800 block of Guilford Road, Feb. 12 7 a.m.
A juvenile male victim reported that he was approached by a group of suspects with their faces partially covered who displayed handguns, assaulted him, and stole his sneakers and wallet before fleeing. No serious injuries were reported.

Columbia, 21046: 7300 block of Rocky Creek Drive, Feb. 12 8 a.m.
A juvenile male victim reported that he was approached by a group of suspects with their faces partially covered who assaulted him and stole his backpack containing various items before fleeing. No serious injuries were reported.

Columbia, 21046: 7000 block of Old Columbia Road, Feb. 12 8 a.m.
A juvenile male victim reported that he was approached by a group of suspects with their faces partially covered who assaulted him and attempted to steal items before fleeing. No serious injuries were reported.

A juvenile male victim reported that he was approached by a group of suspects with their faces partially covered who displayed a handgun, assaulted him, and stole his sneakers and hoodie before fleeing. No serious injuries were reported.

Police investigating fatal collision involving a pedestrian – February 10, 2024

Howard County police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Clarksville overnight.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., a 2024 Toyota Corolla was travelling westbound when it struck a pedestrian walking in the travel portion of the roadway.

The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Corolla remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Westbound lanes of Route 32 were closed for approximately three hours.

Police investigating single-vehicle collision involving a school bus – February 8, 2024

Howard County police are investigating a single-vehicle collision in Columbia in which a school bus overturned.

At approximately 3:33 p.m. police responded to the 7300 block of Old Columbia Road for an overturned school bus. The bus was traveling northbound when it left the roadway for an unknown reason. No other vehicles were involved. There were no indications of driver impairment.

Of the 19 Hammond Middle School students on the bus, two males and two females, ages 11-14, were transported to the hospital for a checkup. The driver, a 30-year-old female, was not injured.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
